what is the steps to manufacture zircon brick?

zircon brick is manufactured through sintered method. Sintering is a process by pressure and heat without melting it to the point of liquefaction which can compact and form a solid mass of material . Sintered molding method as a general method is widely used in glass industry.

There are four main stages in producing sintered zircon brick: powdering, molding and compacting, drying, and sintering.

1. Powdering: Turning the raw material of zircon brick into powder. Grinding, atomization, chemical reaction, and centrifugal disintegration are four ways of producing material powder.

2. Molding and compacting: The powder of zircon brick is transferred into a mold press. Zircon brick with intricate shapes and details can be manufactured more efficiently with this method because the particles conform to the mold better. The mold is then pressurized and compacted. Heat is added to fuse the particles. In some cases, the sintered zircon brick may be re-pressed to reduce porosity. Hand-molding produces zircon brick of low strength and low density. Mechanical-molding produces zircon brick of high strength and high density

3. Drying: The zircon brick that have been formed need to be dried before sintering so that the cracks can be avoided in the sintering process due to moisture content in the zircon brick.

4. Sintering: It is done at a high temperature kilns which is as high as or higher than their use temperature.

Unlike casting technology where refractory is melted into a more or less liquid state before being shaped, sintered method to produce zircon brick is forged while still in a powdered form. By not having to be melted, several phases are eliminated from the conventional process. This reduces manufacturing time of zircon brick, which can be crucial for high volume production. What is more, a relatively low temperature is needed to sinter zircon brick.
