As one of the important equipment for solid/liquid separation system, the drilling mud cleaner, also called desander and desilter assembly, mainly consists of three parts including desander, desilter and the underflow screen. It can achieve separation of two stage with the hydrocyclone mounted over the shale shaker. Compared with the independent desander and desilter, the product has much higher working efficiency.
It is necessary to install a vacuum degasser for their removal from the drilling fluids since the invading gases may impact mud properties, cause safety risks and affect the lifespan of some equipment. Vacuum degasser has found wide application in drilling fluids circulating system, forcing the gases(such as, CH4, H2S, etc.) out of entrained drilling fluids(mud) so that mud properties(including density, viscosity) are well preserved.
Techniques to Extend Lifespan of Vacuum Degasser:
Desanders and desilters are drilling rig equipment with a set of hydrocyclones that separate sand and silt from the drilling fluids. Usually the desanders are used to romove the sand that drilling mud shale shaker can't remove, drilling fluids desilter is installed after desander to remove much smaller sand and silt. The hydrocyclones of them are the main and most important components.

Mud gas separator is commonly called a gas-buster, poor boy degasser and liquid gas separator. It captures and separates large volume of free gas within the drilling fluid. If there is a “KICK” situation, this vessel separates the mud and the gas by allowing it to flow over baffle plates.
