Drilling waste management involves the processing of drill cuttings on and after they leave the rig shaker. Our solutions reduce hauloff and disposal volumes, allow for increased recovery and reuse of drilling fluids, and reduce the environmental footprint of the drilling process.

KOSUN cuttings management suite also includes advanced thermal desorption technologies, which are comprised of HAMMERMILL onshore and offshore desorption units and THERMAL PHASE SEPARATION technology. M-I SWACO also has significant expertise in the planning, execution and monitoring of in-situ injection of drilling waste by means of the CUTTINGS RE-INJECTION (CRI) Assurance program.

1.Minimization of cuttings volumes
Highly effective liquids/solids separation techniques like thermal and frictional desorption minimalize the fluid content of drill cuttings prior to discharge or transportation. This significantly reduces total waste volumes and minimizes the need for costly transportation of waste materials.

2.Safe, permanent cuttings disposal
The Cuttings Re-Injection (CRI) process has emerged as a cost-effective, permanent, and sound solution for drill cuttings disposal, especially in environmentally sensitive and remote locations. CRI operations may be done in situ at or near the waste generation site, thereby eliminating the need to package and haul cuttings long distances to treatment facilities. Operators save time, labor, rig space and mitigate HSE risk by avoiding transportation over water or on roadways.

3.Total containment of drill cuttings
Our cuttings management systems give operators flexible solutions for improving the safety and efficiency of drill cuttings containment and permanent remediation. The systems capture the drill cuttings as they exit the shaker and maintain them fully contained in a sealed system all the way to final processing.

Previously, recommended by a local well-known drilling company, one of KOSUN customers, four new-type cuttings dryers (vertical centrifuges) had access to the blocks of its Drilling Waste Management Business Division. It is worth mentioning that handling capacity and effects of the above four dryers are as good as those of top international products, like cuttings dryer from MI-SWACO and CSI, and our equipment were highly recognized by the drilling service company. So, the customer temporarily placed another order from KOSUN of such eight sets of drilling waste management systems, including several D355 decanter centrifuges, cuttings dryers, Hi-G dryer shaker, etc.
