Cartier Introducing Calibre de Cartier Diver, to be launched in 2014

— Cartier is no longer just King of bijou but King of Horology, on account of a very passionate lady, Carole Forestier-Kasapi. A glance at a different watch to be released in 2014: Calibre de Cartier Diver.

Being a person in the Cartier Fine Watchmaking Club, I quite like the privilege of attempting around the watches for sale in the high-end output of the famed company and which are rapidly gaining all the respect as being the legendary jewellery has enjoyed for decades already. This impressive feat is possible because of the brilliant mind of Carole Forestier-Kasapi. She gets been in the head to move development since 2008 and subsequently been responsible for the birth of almost 29 inhouse calibres – which only three were created using help with the renowned Renaud-Papi movement development specialist.
For 2014, she once more has an abundance of treats up for grabs for fans of fine and innovative horology. Not simply will Forestier-Kasapi and her team introduce five fresh inhouse movements (one of these would be the last made out of the assistance of Renaud-Papi), but she's also introducing nine new models among which the Calibre de Cartier Diver´s watch will most likely be considered a huge hit and likely to make male audience look twice when spotted inside retailer's window.
Remember the passion
Do not be influenced to think this is just another diver's watch from Cartier . It can be much more. With Forestier-Kasapi on the helm, there's nothing done merely just for fun, despite the fact that she jokes about “making toys”. That may be just her humble strategy for explaining what she does for a living, but don't get her wrong: over lunch I'd a lengthy talk with her and asked her what gets her out of bed every day.
“In this particular field you need to constantly question yourself. Job anything as a given , nor just do things because they have invariably been done like that. Challenge yourself. Be sure you innovate, however , not only for the sake of innovating. At the same time, always respect the past. Like an author, it is important to never forget how are you affected inside first chapter,” Forestier-Kasapi tells me in a determined voice, being confident that I am aware what she´s saying and continues: “Never ever innovate at the expense of quality and durability. Most importantly: be passionate. This applies not just to watchmaking but to everything we do”.
ISO-certified Diver
That said, it is no wonder that Forestier-Kasapi and her team attended program a really remarkable diver's watch. Not only is the Calibre de Cartier Diver ISO 6425 certified, which suggests a long list of rigorous tests performed on each watch made (and not sample tests); just about all comes with a unidirectional rotating bezel that looks good, operates smoothly, and evensounds great. “The noise of a rotating bezel is of the utmost importance for Cartier. Consider it the closing of an car door. The best sound making you remember quality. Understanding that was the sound we went for,” Forestier-Kasapi highlights, while explaining the 120 notches per full turn in the black ADLC-coated steel bezel, one notch per half minute.

As every watch for men is severely tested because of the stringent ISO regulations, Cartier had to come up with a robust watch. But although Calibre de Cartier Diver can be utilized 300 meters below water, it is not huge or bulky like a number of other diver's watches. Actually it is merely 1.2 millimetres larger than the common three-hander Calibre de Cartier, that is clearly visible when placing each watches near to the other person. The slender height of only 11 millimetres has Forestier-Kasapi claim that this may very well be one of the slimmest diver´s watches available on the market – a minimum of one of the ISO-certified mechanical ones offered.
Fitted using a black rubber strap or bracelet, Calibre de Cartier Diver (powered from the inhouse automatic calibre 1904 MC) emerged in steel, two-tone or rose gold with a very reasonable entry tariff of €5,850 for your steel version on strap. Along with the success is inevitable.
