The Philadelphia Eagles Cedric Thornton Jersey defense looked dazed and confused in the first half Sunday.
In the second half, they dominated.
Showing a tremendous amount of poise and resilience, the defense rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit and blanked the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second half.
The Eagles defeated the Jaguars 34-17 Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
Jacksonville accumulated only 118 yards in the second half against the Eagles defense, which was extremely aggressive.
“A team that hasn’t been tested can’t be trusted,” Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins told CSNPhilly.com. “This was our opportunity to show what we’re made of, to show what we’re going to do when we face some adversity. I think we responded well.”
As a group, the players realized it was a matter of executing better. Heading into halftime, they knew adjustments needed to be made.
“I made some eye contacts with http://www.eaglesshopnflofficial.com/EAGLES-CONNOR-BARWIN-JERSEY some fans running into the tunnel at halftime and, man, rough language coming my way,” linebacker Connor Barwin told CSNPhilly.com. “But I’m sure they enjoyed the second half. They hit two plays on us. Obviously, we can’t give those up, whether they’re fluky or not they’re still touchdowns, but we settled down and didn’t give up anything after that.”
The Jaguars pushed their way onto the Philadelphia side of the field just one time in the second half.
“We had a bad first quarter,” defensive coordinator Bill Davis told reporters. “We really did. We got beat on some plays that we normally don't get beat on. Nobody panicked. Everybody hung together. Nobody turned on each other. It's a shaky start to the season, but what's neat is how they turned it around the next three -- how they made their plays and stayed calm and tackled well. It's a good testament to who they are as men and competitors.”
