Play-offs complete World Cup lineup

The lineup for the 2010 FIFA World Cup is complete after France, Greece, Portugal and Slovenia booked Europe's last available berths via the play-offs.

Slovenian 'fairy tale'

All four ties proved to be tight. Slovenia's 1-0 defeat of Russia in Maribor helped them progress on away goals having been beaten 2-1 in Moscow on Saturday. "They are men of merit for continuing the Slovenian football fairy tale," said coach Matjaž Kek. France knocked out the Republic of Ireland 2-1 on aggregate after scoring in extra time at Stade de France, Greece claimed the only goal of their two games with Ukraine in Donetsk and Portugal beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 in both legs. That allowed those four teams to join the nine winners of the European qualifying groups: holders Italy, Denmark, Germany, Spain, England, Netherlands, Serbia, Switzerland and Slovakia – first-time finalists as an independent nation.
