Dortmund - Long-term injury victim Ilkay Gündogan will not play FUT Coins for Borussia Dortmund again this season, his coach Jürgen Klopp confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
"This season is too soon for him," said Klopp in his pre-mach press conference ahead of the trip to the champions FC Bayern München on Saturday evening."The situation hasn't changed. He's still recovering," continued the 46-year-old.
Healing process ongoing
Gündogan was a key part of the Dortmund team that thrilled fans the world over as BVB reached the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League final, a game in which he also scored, but he has barely featured for the club this season because of a long-standing back injury.
He started Dortmund's 4-0 win at FC Augsburg on the season's opening day, before lasting only 27 minutes of Germany's friendly draw with Paraguay four days later on 14 August, and has not played since. "In his situation he has to be patient," explained Klopp. "It's frustrating, but that's the nature of the injury."
The 23-year-old also looks set to miss out on adding FIFA Coins to his eight caps for Germany at the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil, with Klopp stating that his prospects of participating looks "bleak".
