The use of any log splitter

This is a good log splitter but before you buy this splitter or others like it you should know about the hydraulic fluid.

The Shell hydraulic fluid is not sold in box stores. You have to get the hydraulic fluid from a store that specializes in bulk lubricants.

The local store in my area only sells five gallon buckets($65). The shelf life of the hydraulic fluid has a live of four years(Shell tech support) even if it is still in the can.

I talked to the manufacturer's tech support and asked if could mix another hydraulic fluid with the Shell product without voiding the warranty and could not get a commetment that it could be done.

If you change out the existing fluid for a product that is readly available it has to have AW32 on the label(Shell tech support) to be suitable for use in the log splitter hydraulic system.

Please read the owner's manual prior to the use of any log splitter.

Very Good Value

I finally tired of splitting firewood by hand. The 27-Ton Troy Bilt is a life saver. It split 18-inch long, 24-inch diameter sweetgum with little effort. Would like a larger gas tank.

Also would like a handle to hold when raising and lowering the splitter. It will split oak as fast or faster than a helper can stack it. The Honda engine starts on the first pull every time, so far.

Time will tell how it holds up. I have run 4 tanks of gas through it so far.http://www.cnsuperpower.com/
