Drilling waste management http://www.kosun.us/drilling-waste-management/ will separate the solids and drilling cuttings from the drilling mud. Once the solid phase and liquid phase in the drilling waste is separated, some technologies can be adopted to deal with such waste.
The application of such technologies can be divided into three main stages: drilling waste minimization, cyclic utilization and drilling waste treatment. During stage I of drilling waste minimization, volume or influence of drilling waste can be reduced, the volume of drilling mud can be minimized, and the drilling mud and additives causing little impact on the environment can be used, such as synthetic based drilling mud. During stage II of cyclic utilization, we find that the drilling waste has other applications. More drilling mud can be recycled; the drilling waste can be used for paving roads after being treated by vertical cuttings dyer; the drilling cuttings containing oil can be used as fuel.
Oil-based drilling fluids is mainly composed of oil as the continuous phase. It has found wide application in various drilling platforms with its resistance against elevated temperature and calcium salt corrosion, strong sidewall stabilization, good lubricating effects and little damage of oil & gas formation. Water, as an unuseful composition, does not account for more than 10% in oil-based drilling fluids. However, it normally takes up 10%~60% in water-in-oil drilling fluids, as an essential part evenly dispersed in diesel.
KOSUN customize drilling waste management solution are according to actual drilling waste produced condition during rig drilling work and customer treatment requirement. Two solutions for option, both can reduce the drilling waste volume, recycle available drilling mud saving cost and provide environment protection from drilling waste problems.
