Davis hits home runs to sweep with 10-2

Another two-homer game by Baltimore slugger Chris Davis gave him a spot in the Orioles record book.
Davis hit two home runs to take the major league Mark Sanchez Limited Jersey lead with 40, Matt Wieters and Adam Jones both connected and Baltimore beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-2 on Friday night.
''This was a big win for us,'' Davis said. ''(Toronto) is playing well, they're obviously at the top of the division, making a run for it. It was big for us to come in here and have the kind of game that we had.''
Toronto's lead atop the AL East shrank to one-half game as the second-place New York Yankees beat Tampa Bay 5-2.
Ubaldo Jimenez (10-9) pitched 5 2-3 innings for the victory as the Orioles won consecutive games for the first time since beating Oakland on Aug. 16-17.
Davis opened the scoring Calvin Johnson Elite Jersey by leading off the second inning with a second-deck drive to right, then broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run shot in the sixth. Both homers came off Blue Jays right-hander Drew Hutchison.
''The last thing you want is for that guy to hit the ball in the air,'' Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin said of Davis. ''He's so strong.''
The home runs were the 39th and 40th of the season for Davis, moving him past Seattle's Nelson Cruz. Davis, who hit 53 homers in 2013, is the first player in Orioles history to hit 40 or more in multiple seasons. He called it ''a humbling feeling'' to reach the mark.
''There's a lot of great players who have come through Baltimore,'' manager Buck Showalter said. ''That's quite a feat. That's impressive.''
It was the sixth multihomer http://www.texansonlineofficialstore.com/Ryan-Mallett-Jersey game this season for Davis and the 13th of his career. He hit two home runs against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, including a game-winning blast in the 11th inning.
Luke Scott was the last Baltimore player with consecutive multihomer games, doing it against Detroit on May 28 and 29, 2009.
Wieters followed Davis' second homer with a drive of his own. It was the fourth time this season Baltimore has hit back-to-back homers. Davis has been involved all four times.
Blue Jays left fielder Ben Revere leaped to try and catch Wieters' drive but instead pushed the ball over the wall.
''It's been a while since I hit one so I'll take any help I can get right now,'' said Wieter, whose last homer was August 7.
Including the two homers, Baltimore recorded six straight hits to start the sixth, which began with a single by Jones.
After Davis and Wieters homered, Jonathan Schoop doubled, Jimmy Paredes chased Hutchison with a single and Steve Pearce hit an infield single off Liam Hendriks. One out later, Manny Machado hit a sacrifice fly.
''They've got a powerful Womens A.J. Hawk Jersey lineup over there,'' Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. ''If you don't pitch well, they can pound you.''
