Cabrera could be activated from the disabled list this weekend by the Detroit Tigers after taking batting practice and running the bases Tuesday.
The 32-year-old was hitting .350 with 15 home runs, 54 RBIs and a .456 on-base percentage in 77 games. The Tigers were 40-39 before Cabrera was injured, but went 14-19 without him.

''I want to play,'' Cabrera said. ''Right now, if it was me, I'd play tonight. It's not my decision now. Let's see how it feels tomorrow and we can say something tomorrow.''
''He didn't look like he was favoring anything. He didn't look like he was limping, so I was very encouraged,'' Ausmus said. ''Miggy wants to play. I think he's proven over the last two years the way he wound down the 2013 and 2014 seasons, played through injuries.''
Cabrera said he would prefer not to do a minor league rehab assignment before returning.
''I don't know that he'll necessary need a rehab assignment,'' Ausmus said. ''It's really kind of his call. You can't force a player to take a rehab assignment. When we decide Miggy's fine, we'll talk to him on whether he would want to go play a couple of games with one of our affiliates or not.''

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he would be surprised if the 2012 and '13 AL MVP does not play in the three-game series against the AL West-leading Astros.
This marks the second straight season in which Cabrera has dealt with a significant injury. While he didn't miss many games last season, he played through an ankle injury. The issue was so severe that Cabrera had offseason surgery last October, and was limited during spring training as he recovered.
For what it's worth, that ankle injury didn't seem to impact the 32-year-old during the regular season. Cabrera was on his way to another fantastic year before the calf issue put him out of commission. He's hitting .350/.456/.578, with 15 home runs, over 333 plate appearances.
On top of that, he's entering an age where players start to see their bodies break down. That's not to say Cabrera will suddenly become injury prone, but he's at an age where players start to experience injuries more frequently.
When healthy, Cabrera might be the best hitter in the game. He's proven http://www.bearsfootballprostore.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_KEVIN_WHITE_JERSEY.html as much over the past 13 seasons. While he's returning too late to save the Tigers this season, Detroit is making a smart move by resting him more often down the stretch.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said it is conceivable Cabrera could be activated for the series in Houston, which begins Friday.
