Where is Zircon Brick Mainly Used?

zircon brick is a refractory brick which is made by natural zirconite and through sintering method. During the production process, not only zirconite is used as the main raw material, while appropriate sintering agent (the most commonly used is refractory clay) is added into the raw material. In order to improve the property of zircon brick, other components are added into the material such as bauxite, corundum or chromium oxide.

zircon brick belongs to acid refractory with the features of dense structure, high slag resistance, low thermal expansion rate, high refractoriness under load, high abrasion resistance and good thermal shock resistance. Except the strong resistance to acid, zircon brick also has strong resistance to glass liquid, so zircon brick can be used in severely damaged part of glass furnace and is especially used as superstructure brick of flame space and bottom brick of glass furnace in glass industry. Crucible, pipe and test container made by zirconite are widely used in places associated with high temperature.

When zircon brick is being used with high refractoriness, molten slag is not easily dissolved, however, molten slag may penetrates inside zircon brick through air hole, meanwhile, molten slag can react with decomposed zircon particles that forms metamorphic layer and makes the organization destructed, so that penetration must be reduced for improving the using effect of zircon brick.
